October 2025 · Austrian patent AT 527771 granted

The Austrian Patent Office decided to grant patent AT 527771, "Helmet for non-invasive brain stimulation". Compared with the cited prior art, its key feature is a scalp-facing suction opening: the guide is held on the head by vacuum, not only by its shape. The patent was entered in the register in February 2026, and the certificate was issued in March 2026.

The patent family continues abroad:

  • international application PCT/AT2024/060464, published as WO 2025/111627;
  • US application 19/596216 and European application EP 24824695.1, which entered the national and regional phases in April 2026;
  • the European application, published in September 2026 as EP 4816054.

The US and European applications are pending. They are written for non-invasive brain stimulation in general, including TMS, tDCS and transcranial ultrasound, not for TMS alone.
